Parvalux releases range of motors and gearboxes for rapid prototyping

maxon brand Parvalux has launched a modular configuration service providing rapid availability of customised motors, gearboxes, and geared motors for OEM prototyping. The online modular service can supply motors and gearboxes within three to four weeks, from online selection through to delivery. The service includes permanent magnet DC (PMDC) and brushless DC (BLDC) motors, and the modular range covers 12 - 48V, up to 4,500rpm speed, and between 0.063 - 80.0Nm torque.
The Modular range provides rapid availability of design samples configured to specific requirements. The online configuration service for the Modular range enables application developers to quickly select and customise a drive system, starting with specifying output performance through to fine-tuning the selection with criteria such as shaft length or encoder type.
The three-step online selection tool generates an order for up to 10 units. Confirmation of the Modular product can then be manufactured at scale.
The Modular range has been developed for OEMs in sectors including building automation, involving applications such as access control and door automation solutions. The Parvalux range of drive systems is also targeted at materials handling, for integration within AGVs, automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyors, and warehouse tugs. The Modular service has also been launched to support developers of human mobility systems, such as patient hoists, powered wheelchairs, stairlifts, and wheelchair lifts.
The range includes BLDC motors ranging from 26W power up to 586W, speed up to 4,500rpm, with continuous torque up to 1.4Nm and maximum intermittent torque up to 2.45Nm. PMDC motors in the Modular range span from 12W up to 283W at speeds up to 3,000rpm, with continuous torque up to 0.9Nm and maximum intermittent torque up to 1.5Nm. Adding a gearbox can increase continuous torque up to 50Nm and maximum intermittent torque up to 80Nm, and 15:1, 30:1, and 60:1 ratios are available. The Modular selection can also be fine-tuned with the online selection of encoders, brakes, specific shaft types, as well as speed and position controllers.
Online selection involves a simple three-step process. The first step involves selecting the required output performance. Step two includes choosing the motor, gearbox, or motor-gearbox combination. The final step fine-tunes the selection, with the option to add additional drive system components and customisation options. The online Modular configuration tool also suggests recommended combinations specific to applications.
While the online Modular configuration tool is fast and simple to use, the maxon UK & Ireland engineering team is available to provide specification assistance across diverse applications and for detailed requirements.
“The Parvalux Modular range and online selection service have been developed to provide rapid design samples to OEM designers,” says Ben Smith, Parvalux UK Sales Manager at maxon. “This approach can speed up development and introduces a flexibility that can enhance design concepts. The system is simple to use, and it’s supported by an engineering team, available on the phone or in person, to provide design assistance to projects across the UK and Ireland.”
