Product discontinuation: TSX Rio Encoder

maxon motor Australia would like to inform its customers of the planned discontinuation of the TSX RIO encoder, as the company transitions to a new-generation encoder design.

The TSX RIO encoder - used in combination with EC-i motors and integrated into High Precision Joint (HPJ) assemblies as well as customer-specific configurations has been a high-resolution optical solution within the maxon product portfolio. All product combinations incorporating the TSX RIO encoder are included in this discontinuation.

Transition to a New Encoder Design
As part of maxon’s ongoing commitment to innovation and product excellence, development is underway on a 17-bit non-optical encoder platform. This next-generation design offers high resolution, improved robustness and strong alignment with future product strategy.

To support this transition, maxon will phase out the TSX RIO encoder and focus on advancing the new encoder technology.

Key Dates
•    Last orders: May 1, 2026
•    Last deliveries: October 1, 2026

For High Precision Joint applications, TSX RIO supply will continue until the replacement solution becomes available, ensuring uninterrupted support for our customers.
